Research Articles

Research articles should not exceed 8,000 words (including abstract, figures, and tables but excluding references). There should be no more than ten figures and/or tables in the main text. Any additional figures and tables should be placed in Supplementary Material. The abstract (up to 300 words) must contain clear and concise statements.

Review Articles

Review articles should not exceed 10,000 words (including abstract, figures, and tables but excluding references). Authors may submit manuscripts that provide in-depth critical review of an EXD related subject. These reviews must provide the synthesis and critical evaluation.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Environmental Experience Design undergo rigorous peer review.

  • Initial submission is reviewed by in-house editors to ensure adherence to journal policies and for double-blind review.
  • The editor-in-chief decides on the manuscript to be sent out for review process and assigns the manuscript to one of the associate editors according to the particular topic.
  • The associate editor chooses the reviewers within the editorial board or from external expert panel depending on the topic.
  • After evaluations by the reviewers have been received, the associate editor makes one of the following recommendations: accept, accept with minor revision, accept with major revision, resubmit for review, see comments and reject. The editor-in-chief makes a final decision. The originality and quality of papers shall be evaluated based on the following categories:
    • Accept Submission; only if the papers qualify all the journal requirements and no need for further revision.
    • Revisions Required; a) If the decision is a minor revision, the authors have 20 days to resubmit the revised manuscript. b) If the decision is a major revision, the authors have 40 days to resubmit the revised manuscript.
    • Resubmit for Review; if the papers do not follow the journal requirements, need further experiments, and/or consist of unclear results and discussion. Upon resubmission, the same procedure is applied as for the initial submission.
    • Decline Submission; if the papers have major issues such as flaws the experimental procedure, inaccurate data, illogical discussion, and/or unreasonable claims.
    • See Comments; if the reviewers give the total decision to the editor.

Authors may appeal for a rejected submission. Appeal requests must be made in writing to Environ.Ex.Design@scineerpub.com with detailed reasons for the appeal and point by point responses to the reviewers' remarks. Decisions on appeals are final without exception.

Open Access Policy

Environmental Experience Design provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publishing Ethics

Environmental Experience Design requests all members involved in the journal publishing process to adhere to the Core Practices on publication ethics as stipulated by Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE) in compliance with the information and guidelines on handling publishing ethics allegations as described in the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit (PERK).

The journal editors take all possible misconducts seriously. The Editors, authors or readers can forward their concerns to the journal if they find out that the description in a submitted article may constitute an academic fraud, research misconduct or publication malpractice. The concerns or complaints on the possible allegations submitted to the journal will be dealt with promptly and appropriately according to the procedure set out in the COPE flowchart on complaints and in PERK. The complainant may direct all inquiries and correspondence to the journal at Environ.Ex.Design@scineerpub.com.

Authorshiop

Authorship of a scholarly paper should be limited to individuals who have contributed substantially to its intellectual content. Participation solely in the acquisition of funding or general supervision of the research group is not sufficient for authorship. All authors should hold the responsibility of fairly evaluating their respective roles and their co-authors’ roles in the project. This is to ensure that authorship is attributed according to a fixed standard in all publications for which they will be listed as authors.

In order to be listed as an author for a paper, one should have contributed sufficiently to the project. A co-author is expected to have contributed to some component of the work which led to the paper or be involved in the interpretation of its results. All authors should have a say in the final approval of the version to be published, in addition to reviewing the final manuscript prior to submission.

Individuals who do not meet the above requirements, but have provided a valuable contribution to the work, may be acknowledged for their contribution as appropriate to the publication.

Conflict of Interest

Conflicts of interest may exist when professional judgements concerning a primary interest have the possibility of being influenced by a secondary interest (e.g.: financial gains). It is to be noted that even perceptions of conflicts of interest are as important as the actual conflicts of interest.

Any agreements with study sponsors (for profit or non-profit), which interfere with the authors’ access to the study data, ability to analyze or interpret the data and publish manuscripts independently according to their own decision, should be avoided by authors at all costs.

A declaration of interests for all authors must be received before an article can be reviewed and accepted for publication.

Plagiarism

Environmental Experience Design will not accept manuscripts that are plagiarized in any circumstances. The journal will verify the originality of the submitted manuscripts with iThenticate, the plagiarism detection software.

If a manuscript uses a text copied directly from another source, this text must be written in quotation marks and original source must be cited. If any kind of plagiarism is detected during the review process, the manuscript will be rejected.

Authors and researchers can also use iThenticate to screen their work before submission by visiting http://www.ithenticate.com.

Publication Fees

Environmental Experience Design does not require any publication fee for the time being.

Language

All articles should be written in English—either British or American as long as consistency is observed. SI units should be used. If you are not a native speaker of English, you may want to utilize an external or Scineer Publishing’s optional professional language editing service before submitting the final version.

Scineer Publishing Pte. Ltd. offers its own professional editing services. By using this service, you can be sure that your English-language manuscript will be polished and ready for submission to your publication of choice. For further details about the language editing services, please contact us at Environ.Ex.Design@scineerpub.com. Please note that utilizing a language editing service is not a guarantee of acceptance.
